Last morning of my trip to Lake Vermillion. I debated getting an early start on the drive home, or sneak an extra 1/2 day of fishing in. The choice was an obvious one, and am I glad I did!!
Had success all week on the same pattern. Slow twitching X-Raps over gravel bars and rocky flats, looking for pre-spawn smallies. Got a bunch of bonus big walleye, northerns, and 2 musky on this routine also.
(no weight, but the fish was so thick, I couldn't even get my hands across the back of her head. I had to gill her. Hooked perfectly in the corner of the mouth on the rear treble. A pretty good fight on a spinning rod!!
Then 30 minutes later, I land this this toad. 28" on the nose. This is the 4th 28 incher I've landed, but this one had some shoulders. It was definitely the heaviest.
All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't leave early!!
I fixed your pictures for you... I found this one hidden in your post and figured what the HEY.... JKS
