Default Trip to Minnesota

Hey guys my family and i are planning a trip to Minnesota in august and i was just wondering if someone can point out a lake that has cabin and boat rentals so we can do some good fishin. Would love to target pike. A place with some package deals like boat and cabin would be awesome. Also if you can tell me about some fishing rules that i might need to know that would be great

You have to check out Cass lake. Its called a walleye factory, but there are tons of other fish also. I have fished that lake for 30 years, and still find something new every year. Musky, northern, perch, bass etc, they are all in there. The resort I stayed at upped their prices, so I would look around and compare.

I've been to Lake Kabetogama and camped at Voyageurs National Park. Beautiful place and the fishing is great. We were targeting smallies, but caught walleye, pike, and largies as well.

We did not stay at a resort, but that's basically all there is up there is resort after resort. It's BIG water so there's a never-ending supply of places to explore. I think it's also part of the BWCA.

I second ffishman. I've been to most of the bigger lakes in Minnesota and still prefer Cass. Several places to go. Here's one of our favorites for the family with the pool and all the amenities. Great fishing for all species right around the resort or within a short boat ride of the resort.

Best lake in Minnesota is Rainy Lake. Large northern are abundant, outstanding smallmouth, walleye, and crappie.

Rainy has the biggest crappie I've ever caught with numbers to boot. Loved the walleye fishing as well, you can keep the stinky slimey pike, they're everywhere.

Stinkky Pike, I don't understand. Some years ago we were in Canada, and using a guide. He fell short on walleyes for lunch, and told us we would get some northerns. We all crabbed about it, but said not to worry. Well, we caught some, and he filleted them, and fryed them along with the walleyes we had. No one in our group the difference between the two. Since that time, I have kept the ideal size northerns, and properly filleted they, in my opinion are great.
