Default FOID / MuzzleLoader

I also put this in the Help Topic below , but , thought it would get seen more here .

I have a ? about the requirements to own / hunt with a MuzzleLoader .

#1 : Is an FOID required to purchase / own a ML?
#2 : Is an FOID required to hunt with a ML.
#3 : Is an FOID required to purchase powder / bullets for a ML.

These ?'s were asked to me about ML Hunting and I could not give him a 100% answer .

I own / hunt / purchase stuff for my ML . BUT I also have an FOID , so I just go and do it .

I'll poll the audiance on this one .

I don't think they are considered a "firearm" in Wisconsin, but are considered one in good ol' Illinois. I know you need a FOID to hunt and buy the gun/powder in Illinois, I don't think you need one to buy sabots/bullets.

The ATF considers muzzleloaders "Antique Firearms."

Anything larger than .177 or faster than 700fps requires FOID including airguns.

In the Peoples Republik of Illinois, anything that goes bang, you must have a FOID to purchase or posess. Be a good comrade and get a FOID card. That way they know who to go to when they outlaw firearms...........Just my two pennies...

True dat, but if you cross the border to Indiana nothing is required to purchase a muzzleloader or powder/bullets except a valid ID.
