Default Wild Roosters

Pictured below is a 4 man limit of wild birds taken Sat. Dec. 28 near Gibson City, Illinois. I couldn't go- had to work. A comedy of errors as the first six flushes (all roosters-one at a time!) escaped untouched. A couple birds not even shot at! Strips of neck-high switch grass set aside ground held the birds. The boys eventually settled down and this is the result.....

Nice to see that there are some wild pheasants left in this state! (Well, maybe not ANYMORE - lol!) Iowa has tanked horribly since the days I use to hunt it. Just can't get into the pen raised scene. No challenge at all to me. Nothing compares to wild birds and the effort (and good dogs) it takes to fill the game bag. Kudos to you and your crew!

Nice, looks like you guys know where all the cocks hang out. It's been 22 years since I've shot my last one in this state...I hope they come back as well as the turkeys have, at least pheasant are edible, every turkey I've killed over a year old isn't fit to eat.
