NW Steelheader In reference to keeping Steelhead, I return all wild fish from where I'm from, but always keep summer run fish.

I was told that the water may lack oxygen in the summer which will increase the fatality rate.

The winter fish seem to have a lower mortality rate and produce more of a fight then there summer brethren.

The Little King a few weekes ago I got a 13lbs stealhead from kenosha. We had it in the net in about 2 minutes , it took the guy longer to get the net, then it did to fight the fish.

Junior T Earlier this year my buddy got a 10 lbs. steelhead at Kenosha and he reeled it in in about one minute. No fight, no energy, and it seemed it gave up. I've heard of this from other folks about no fight steelheads.

Does anyone know why some steelheads literally die when hooked? Has anyone had similar experiences?

Fishing has been slow. I got a small jack chinook at Burnham on a Junior Thunderstick last night, but all the snaggin' makes the fishin' difficult.

Good luck and good fishing.
