Which harbor?

I don't know why m waiting this late to try but I plan on shore fishing the big lake. I always fished port of Indiana and burns as a teenager. I know the basics for spring and summer patterns but this winter fishing in harbors is new to me. I plan on drifting some cooked shrimp. I imagine the smallmouth bite will be tough going and they'll be hunkered down. Perch might be a good bet? I am not looking for any particular species though. My question is what harbor to try. I have Illinois and Indiana licenses. I don't mine paying for parking or walking a little bit. Is there a salmon or trout bite right now? Do I need pier passes for Jackson or montrose. I would like to go to the portage bass pro and possibly fish the Indiana harbors, are they getting perch or Browns or anything in Indiana? Thanks in advance
