KP South Sabula Lake Park is a campground right in Sabula that is like a big sand bowl beach with boat access to the Mississippi. A friend of mine and his wife camped there a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. I usually pull in there with my boat in the middle of the day to cool off in the water and have some lunch. Facilities appear to be nice. Fishing can be done in the bowl, a channel off the river, or from the river bank. Only problem may be all the train traffic that crosses the river at that spot.

Seven Eagles Campground in Savanna offers camper and tent camping as well as a 4 unit motel and two small cabins. My wife and I have stayed in both the motel and cabins. We really like the place. It has several fishing opportunities including a stocked campground pond and Spring Lake impoundment off the river. The Mississippi River Bike Trail can also be accessed from there and there is also a beautiful observation cabana overlooking Spring Lake. Link is below

roger You might try Bulger's Hollow located on the Iowa side between Clinton and Sabula, but you would need an Iowa fishing license. The campground at Thomson,Illinois is a real nice campground. It has showers, flush toilets and you can fish all along the bank. There is a couple play grounds for the kids.It cost $18.00 a night, but you have electricity also.Good fishing too.

also, mind the dam warning horns!!!they went off once while we were sleeping. we didn't know what they were and ended up knee-deep inside the tent!

Camping on the river?

Does anyone know of a location where I can camp on the river? I would like to be able to fish from my camp site if possible. Some facilities, i.e. a park restrooms would be great as well since the wife and kids will be joining me. Thanks.
