Wilmington Dam MLK weekend!?!?

I've been thinking about fishing the Wilmington Dam this weekend with my spinning rod, what bait should I use for walleye in the winter. Minnows, worms, plastics, ice jigs? I usually use my fly rod, and although I'll bring it just in case, it will probably just sit in the truck and wait for a little warmer weather.

Mark Komo Yep, I hear ya. I got there myself at 730 or so and feeshed for a few hours by the dam. Seen a couple of other guys wading. I was from shore. LOTS of algea. And that water really looked dirty.

Went to the broken dam and seen a few folks feeshing. Water was up so thats good. It even looked cleaner. Still no feesh.

Wilmington 1-1-06

Went to Wilmington Dam around 1:00 today. River was a bit too high and cold (plus the occasional ice flow spilling over the dam) for wading, so I decided to shore fish it. The river was still full of broken up algae, both on the bottom and suspended, so I went over to the broken dam instead where there was much less algae. Not a bite, but it was good to get out of the house and get the '06 fishing season underway.
