KINGFISH6221 I had the same type of experience the first time I took my 7 & 8 year olds fishing. The next time I went a elderly man told me to put my rod down and just help the girls. What a great piece of advice. My girls are now 24 & 25 years old and we still fish together 3 or four times a year. Once the kids get the hang of it you can go back to fishing along with them. patience man.

Tgibbs64 I was Silver Lake 04/01 and today. Not much luck. Fished the NE end w/ a couple of buddies. Tried monnows, trout worms power bait. Spent more time trying to keep dry any trying to keep warm than I did fishing! Oh well, my fault for not being prepared. They were absolutly slaying them about 100 yards up from me. I just couldn't figure it out. This won't stop me from going back!

Ed_r I went to the pond in Wood Dale with the kids. I just looked at the dupage cty site and it said they only put 300 trout in that lake LOL. They place was fairly jammed. Didn't catch anything. kept having to fix the kids lines. and listen to them whine about why we have to be out here on a cold drizzly morning. I told them fine I wont aske em again. :P

Ditkarulz Silver lake was packed early we got there about 20 minutes after the gates opened and in most spots the shore anglers where 5-10 feet apart almost around the whole lake, except on downwind side. I won't make that mistake again it was bad enough trying to cast in it much less keep my wife warm so we could stay longer. She gave in after an hour. I'm off the next few days though so maybe another trip is in order. And as always If you're out fishing and you see a guy with a baby it is probably me. Maybe I should change may screen name to FishesWithBaby.

muskygun i talked to a park ranger that said the trout were in there about ten days already so they are somewhat spread out. one pier near boat launches was packed. if need be move around till you locate fish they say trout school together. i saw people set 2 to 4 deep and some on lindy rig off bottom, but cast out to the deeper drop off. i saw them caught on small minnows, nightcrawlers, egg shaped power baits but like itzvic said hot ticket was waxies on ice jigs. depth may vary. i had the spot where everything i tried produced crappies. but i forgot to bring my other box that had ice jigs and i only brought one pole expecting it to be packed. they stocked over 4000 in there so there is still plenty left good luck. also make sure you have new license and inland trout stamp cause they are checking

Midwest Fishing Network I have never fished one of these stocking, but have always wanted to. I have the day off monday and what a better way to spend a day off then some good old fishing. Quick question, if I were to go on monday mourning would you think most of them would have been fished out already? Hopefully it will be a little less crowded. How far down did you have the wax worms under the float? Any help would be appreciated.

Tight Lines,

Dan

Trout opener...

What a riot. I will put up some pics of the trout later. The fish were giants for stocked trout...

Wax worms on ice jigs under a float was the ticket. I was at Silver Lake giving it a go. Had a blast, met some cool people.

I wasn't there early, but i heard that it was jammed crowded.
