Jarrad Fluekiger I grew up on the barge in ALma as a kid. Yep the barge is located on pool 5. I use to go out there every day after school and just slay the walleyes.

basscaster Thanks for the information on pool 4 Fireflick.I never knew or realized there was a powerplant above the dam.Actually I have never fished that area. I once fished a Fishing Barge in Alma.As I look on my map ,I see that this might be pool 5.Do they still fish off the barge? Keep up the Great reports and Keep warm. Roy

Jarrad Fluekiger Played the last couple days on pool 5 again. All I can say is that the fishing pretty much died. The landings on Pool 5 are starting to freeze up so that means I will start playing on Pool 4 for the rest of the winter. I was out on pool 4 last week and the action up there has just been hot for good sized saugers. Two and three man limit of saugers in the 15-22 inch range have been pretty common. Pool 4 near Red Wing stays open all year round because of the power plant just north of the dam. The dam kicks out warm water so the action stays pretty constant all winter long. Some nice walleyes are still being caught also but they seem to be more aggresive during low light conditions. Hair jigs tipped with minnow has the most productive for us. The trolling bit e has been good also and seems to pick up more of the bigger fish. Trolling at .5mph -1mph has been the best speeds. Remember with the water temperature dropping so should you speed. Good luck and see you on the river.
