Cotto I would also recomend wading if possible. Most areas will produce-the key is learning where the fish will be under the conditions you are fishing. There is a lot of information on this site. It's not so much the area, it's figuring out what works. The river is constantly changing in depth, clarity, temp etc. The fish respond to these changes. You have to adapt and be versatile. Keep trying different spots and different presentations until you find what works. Try to remember all of this and eventually you will recognize patterns. Some people keep logs of river and weather conditions.

anyone care to share some good spots on the kankakee, i fished it once off a bank by the state park, and caught a giant smallie in some slack water with a baby minus-1 crank bait, just wish to know a little more about the river
