Mad_Onion DNR says no they don't control it. Call the number above to the lake county health department. Lake county should be patrolling this area to keep an eye out, but the person needs to be caught red handed, and its already too late for the DNR to do anything.

If the person(s) don't like boat traffic, then they shouldn't of bought that house.

They are thinking about dredging the channel. But you know how fast the government moves, very slowly

WILLBFISHING
THE HOMEOWNER DID IT.

I HAVE BEEN FISHING LOON FOR YEARS AND IT IS MY PRIMARY LAKES. I LIVE NEAR AND PAY DUES/TAXES ON THOSE LAKES. MANY FOLKS KNOWLEDGABLE OF THESE LAKES ALL POINT TO THE HOMEOWNER ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE CHANNEL AS THE OFFENDER. HE DOES NOT LIKE THE BOAT TRAFFIC GOING THROUGH AND DISTURBING HIM. PROOF WE DONT HAVE, BUT THE LOCALS KNOW !!! MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I PAY TO FISH THESE LAKES THROUGH TAXES (ANTIOCH/LAKE VILLA RESIDENTS) AND IT IS A STATE FUNDED LAKE (FISHING LICENSE). THERE IS A LAUNCH ON THE EAST SIDE, BUT YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF THAT SUBDIVISION TO ACCESS IT. THUS, WE MUST PAY THE $10 TO LAUNCH AT VILLA RICA. I DONT MIND THE FEE SO MUCH, BUT WE SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO BOTH LAKES, YOU PAY TO FISH THEM ! IT WONT MATTER NOW BECAUSE HE HAS THE CHANNEL ALMOST COMPLETELY BLOCKED. NOT EVEN A CANOE COULD FLOAT THROUGH, BUT U COULD WALK IT THROUGH !!!

loon lake channel

I fish loon lake a few times a year. and I also have noticed the channel is no longer usable. Whether anyone is filling it in or not, I do not know. What I have noticed though, is that on the whole loon lake is about 12 inchs below its normal level. This cannot be helping. Lets hope this rain we have had lately and maybe some dredging will help.

Mad_Onion another UPDATE from the IDNR:

Mr Williamsen,

The Office of Water Resources received an inquiry about this issue last
fall. At that time we found out that Lake County was looking into the
matter. They had been monitoring the situation for several years. They
informed us that material in the channel is from natural siltation and
they would be pursuing a dredging project to clean out the channel.
Mark Pfister of the Lake County Health Dept. (847/360-6747) is the main
contact for this project.

==============================================

Whoever uses this lake or plans to, you should give this Mr. Mark Pfister of the Lake County Health Department a call and shake the tree a bit.

I will be giving him a ring tomorrow

Loon Lake, Antioch, IL DUMPING UPDATE

Maybe some of you know or do not know, but Loon lake is actually two lakes, west loon lake and east loon lake. There is a small channel between the two lakes, which you use to be able to boat through there.

Now after a couple of times and a closer look at the channel, somebody filled it in. It is hear say on who did it, but it definately looks man-made.

Rednitro brought this to my attention and I am known to get fires lit under people so I alerted the DNR to see what if or anything they can do about it.

You can read the whole story on this thread. I figured to put this subject on this forum since it alerts the fishing community on one person CAN make a difference
