mherron2213 We got to the K3 on Saturday morning. Stopped by the 'Trading Post' for advice and a couple of other things. Got on/in the river about 8:30 for about 2 hours. I waded - Sarah fished from the bank. I caught a hand full of Smallies ( 6 - 8). Lost three or four within sight - new experience for me. Most were in the 6" to 10" range. I hooked one and got it close enough to see it was a larger fish - BUT - As I reached to pick it up - off it swam. Water was fast - I was 1/2 way across the river and only thigh deep. Great time - fun catching - going back in 2 weeks.

Most fish caught on two different KVD lures - one whitish and then a greenish one

Thanks to all for advice and locations. Now have a couple of new ones to try.

trichifishing13 Hello gentlemen my brother lives on the rivr at aroma park. The reeds trip from 17 will take from 4-7 hrs depending on the pace u paddle. The fishing is fabulous rite now! Bring a lil assortment of baits. From texas rigd plastics to pop r's! Topwatr has been betr for the bigger fish. But a 3/8 oz spot remover jig with 5 inch berkley shakey worm in green pumpkin was deadly tonight! Look for the deeper watr or the fastest shallow current with rock bottom. My advice is take the reeds trip now before it gets too low. Dont want to have to walk the canoe past the elks! Ive fished aroma park about 10 times in last 3 weeks and it has been awesome! Rivr is crystal clear too. Watch for ospreys, bald eagles, beavers, egrets, deer and turkey. Ive seen all of them in the last 3 weeks! Tight lines

DaBidness I thought there is a part of 17 further east that crosses the river near the Rivers Bend cafe... making Aroma Park downstream of there. It's further over towards Momence.

Fox_hunter42 Aroma park is upstream and you can't get there from 17. You would have to jump the ****.
Bird park launch on 17 down to just past Warner Bridge is their normal route, and that should be good fishing. If wading that stretch of river be very careful, I have heard horror stories of under ground caves, that will swallow you up. Some of the other regulars out there can give more info on that. I have never waded it.

Kankakee fishing trip - finally !!

Hi all:
A few weeks ago – I requested information for a trip we had planned to the Kankakee State Park. Life got in the way for a couple of weeks – but this weekend we will be fishing in the area.
With all the additional time, and the great tips we received, we are down to two options:

Option 1 – Fish from the shore ( wade ) – We received many suggestions as far as locations. Any additional will be appreciated. Thanks for each one. (We will be staying in Bournonnais)

Option 2 – Rent a canoe – One suggestion was to contact http://www.reedscanoetrips.com/trips.htm. We did – From their site “The put-in point is at the Illinois 17 crossing of the river; pickup is at Aroma Park, six miles downstream.” We will be drifting with the river flow. Our question – does this sound like a good area as far as catching fish? All comments appreciated.

Thanks - Mike
