Grindstone Lake, Northwest Wisconsin
My wife and I spent the week of Sept. 12 through 19 fishing Grindstone Lake, near Hayward, Wisconsin. We rented a nice little cabin in Lakeview Village in Northwoods Beach. A couple of cold fronts went through, before and after our arrival and the fishing was slow, especially for gamefish. Mary really killed the panfish though, including Bluegill, Rock Bass and Yellow Perch. We had a nice fish fry to end the week. Those panfish were in the thick weeds in 6-9 feet, on bottom. A jig and worm was the only method to take them, fished vertically. They bit every day. Thanks again to Earl's Marine in Northwoods Beach for bait and beer. :-)
