Ed-Thanks!

Hey Edkaz,
Thanks for the info, did a little recon trip yesterday, the Four Star will work out fine, it is exactly what we are looking for. Nice spot on top of the hill, we can pull our trucks and the boat righ tup to where we will camp, throw some lines in the water and chase river cats, after we drink ourselves silly. (or in case we decide to go chase "red snapper" up the road a bit)
It should be exactly what we need, thanks again.

Thanks!

I appreciate the info, I pride myself on being able to find something about anything on the web, but can't find much about campong/fishing for the night on the mighty Illinois. I guess it's not much of a tourist spot for most people, which is pretty much why we want to hang out on the shores for the night. Since we're just looking for a spot to relax after a day of fishing, and a night of cold ones, with a place to pull the boat out and park, I figured it would be good.
Thanks again for the info!

RiverRat242 Didn't mean to come of as a crumdemon there. Just take it as some advice about that part of the river so you can avoid an unpleasent situation. I think there is an unwritten schoolyard rule that applies, or at least the way I was taught - during the day enjoy the beaches, but if you're gonna stay overnight(and start a fire) be sure to get permission. I know quite a few companies own big chunks of land throughout those areas so I guess I would say if you don't see any cornfields on the other side of the treeline, you are better off cause farmer brown probably isn't too interested in federal navagation laws

Mark Komo I thought the guvment owned most of the shoreline, ie, pending an easement of some type. Especially on a federally traveled waterway, I thought ownership ends at the high water mark. So, low water, sand beach, its up for grabs.

Granted, your point on target though. Too much of a mess, and if I were an owner, would call the federales pronto.

RiverRat242 The Lampliter - the show place of LaSalle County. A place where they still know the value of a dollar.

If you choose the random shore route, be careful of where you pull into, as most of the shoreline on the river is privately owened. Some owners have been burned enough by people who leave the campsite a mess that they don't allow it anymore. I would say your best bet is Illini State Park, as it's not quite as crowded as Starved Rock.

Mark Komo lampliter, yep, thats it! Very friendly, but you get what you pay for.

Did a drive by last week, around 700am. Not a soul around, thank god, woulda pulled in for a, ahem, refreshment.

SouthboundPachyderm haha...The Lampliter.

It's dark, dirty, and the girls are more friendly than most "gentlemen's clubs" But I'd make sure you are up to date on all your shots before gong in there.

Mark Komo yep, 4star is nice. Drive by a few times, and did the tour, but never officially stayed over.

I had an uncle who always took me fishing, so I know a lot of spots. I swear he can get anywhere in the state by take cicero ave. In a cranky, crackly old voice "50, all da way".

Yep, CPA. More insurance than anything. Every hear a CPA outta work?

Good luck guys. Slipper is nice. What about that the club in just down the road from ottawa? Same street but about 8 miles down or so. A bit more dank, my kinda style. Slipper a little too flashy. And you pay for flash.

edkaz 4 Star Marina in Ottawa may be just the ticket for you guys. Not too far from the "slipper"

They have a Boat launch (obviously)...they also have camping with primitive sites as close to the rivers edge as you dare set up.

The bar right at the marina gets jumpin pretty good at times too.

They have an outdated website out there somewhere.

Zonker M_komo,

You sure you're an accountant?
