Suntimes says somebody reported a 14 pound pike. Anybody know about it?

Sure do. And it wasn't 14 lbs. It was about 32" and 7 or 8 lbs. Every year somebody claims a huge pike but the story never holds up. The largest pike in the river are generally 32" to 34". I don't think the river has the depth characteristics to grow them much bigger. The summer heat really put it to them.

Well......

my biggest pike out of the Des Plaines was last year in March - 37" I'm guessing it had to be 12-14lbs. AND I DIDN'T HAVE A CAMERA ON ME....REALLY SUCKED!!!

I will be back there tomorrow at the same location WITH A CAMERA READY THIS TIME.

I fished The Des Plaines last December and had the biggest Pike of my life follow me in. I would guess that it went 38 inches, and I always guess low. This was a deep hole. I will be back.
