fished hard for smallmouth with CLF'r "Drum" (and he didn't get sea-sick) for 8 hours, covered miles and miles. caught several on cranks but no discernable pattern. i really thought they would have been more turned on. water temps ranged from 49 to a high of 55.5. winds were up to 30-35(waves wern't to bad) but kept us running and gunning, didn't try anchoring and using slower presentations. picked up 3 coho (1 TO 3 lbs) and a single 3-4lb brown trout, all while smallie fishing (could have caught tons of them if we had tried). hooked into something VERY large and reacted like a big bass (straight for deep water/boat and under it) but ended up shaking the hooks...made for a nice adrenaline rush. bottomline: fun day, with enough action from other species to keep the day moving along. later. dave h
