I got out today to see what was happening on the river and really see how hight it is.
Driving back and forth over it doesn't tell me so I took a look.
I brought some minnows along in case something looked good.
The river is pretty high, that's for sure.
I could tell from some muddy areas that it's been a little higher before this spring.
Anyway I made stops at several areas and made some not-so-interested flips with a jig and minnow.
I did find a calm spot though and worked it pretty good.
It took a while but this one was willing to eat.
They must be still real sluggish and their metabolism quite slow.
At first I thought I just had snagged a stick.
A couple hours of time and it was nice to hold a smallie again. :)2
The warmer weather forecast for the next week will do wonders for getting them going.

I wish I lived closer to the Fox as I could see myself fishing it quite frequently. Unfortunately its quite a drive for me to get there and then I wouldn't even know where to start. Nice fish Ed.

I went out last night for a few hours after work, but I didn't stop for minnows, I was throwing a small jig and white twister. There's a bumper crop of dead weeds and driftwood out there for the catching, but I didn't feel even one bite. Should have gotten the minnows. Still it felt great to be out wetting a line.

I was down in Chinatown at 3:30 this morning so I'm the guy that doesn't feel like getting minnows today.
I am going to go hit the same area though and see what I can get with something artificial.
If the shallow water has warmed up at all maybe they'll hit.
When they're really on I've gotten them just dabbling a twister in front of them.
Kinda wierd because you can't see them though.
Oh well an hour or so and time for a nap ;)
