One short fish (maybe 22 inches or so), the other weighed in at 6.5 pounds. A nice fat one, obviously ready to spawn (belly filled with eggs). I did not measure him, but I'm guesing 30". Cats have begun also, so don't hesitate to throw the river rig out. Has anyone been doing well on lures yet?

I'm not to concerned about stringers, It's the knifes you have to worry about. Seen plenty of fish killed with that method. Do not practice catch, slice, release.

"STINGERS" are a concern, and you should be worried about them. As for the "stringers" you mentioned, if that is what you meant to say, then enjoy the trip to the hospital after your dinner. Most guys I know fish the river for fun, not for stringers.
