The Illinois Walleye Trail found the Illinois River cooperating Sunday 4/6/08 for its 5th tournament of the 2008 season. Thanks Bob for puttin on a great show. If we had been on the fish on Sunday as well as we were on Saturday we would have been hard to beat, but prefishing fooled us again. I thought the day was starting out good with a heavy fish, and up comes a 6# cat. Then Joe snags a license plate that he swears was swimming up river when he hooks it. Ive long said that he could snag anything in the river and that just proves my point. Actually if the EPA knew how much lead I lost in the river yesterday they would lock me up and Id be MAKING license plates. But we had fun, caught alot of fish and met some good people.

During the MWC this year, I hooked a 10lb piece of "flesh". I have pulled up some mighty strange things there as well but this was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. It was a carcass and I really don't want to know what it was from. I chose to cut the line rather then touch it. My nightmares still haunt me.

lets hope not.

Folding lawn chair was my favorite. I was trolling with fireline, and ripped out a good snag on Thursday. (1) Original F9 Orange, (1) original F9 Blue/white, (2) pink floaters, and (3) 3/8 oz jigs. Nice.

Speaking of pulling up things - I pulled out a fully rigged rod/reel combo from the river on Saturday - it looked pretty much brand new and hadn't been in the water long, if you can describe what you lost in a PM I would be more than happy to return your rod/reel.

Komo that scarred me for life. For those that dont know, I was trolling lead core with Mike Konrath prefishing a tourney. I hooked into something and was dragging it in. when it got close I grapped the net to get it so we didnt lose the lure. when it came up it was still half cover with muck and it looked like a skull. I jumped back and yelled to mike it was a skull,I netted it and them saw it was a alternator from a car. I think we were crying for 10 minutes from laughing so hard.
