I have another question for you respectable LM anglers out there...

I have a couple of spools of 40lb test superline 150 yards each. I'm thinking about spooling my dipsy rods reels with it. How much, what type and test of the backing line I need, if at all, on them?

Thanks again for your advice!

It depends on the size of the reel how much backing you`ll need. Dacron takes up the most space on the reel due to it`s thicker diameter.
I buy superline in the bulk spools and fill the entire reel, after a couple of years, I respool the line to another reel. This way the inner line that has never seen the light of day is now the line you`ll be using.
I know the line isn`t indestructible, but it has worked for me so far. ;)
