Hi y'all,

I live in the city, but am currently without a car... does anyone have recommendations for a good in-town place to get live bait (bull minnows, nightcrawlers, etc) that might be reachable by public transportation?

Henry's is definitely were you want to go.
Their minnows live forever. Price is always fair.

The bait shop at montrose harbor is decent. You just have to wait for it to open.

live bait

I know this might sound strange but maybe get a small tank or a 5 gallon bucket with a plug-in aerator and minnows kept cool will live a long time

I know guys who have 30 gallon tanks in their garages just for live bait, in the city might be tough but even the 5 gallon bucket works well if you change water about every 1-2 days and you could even put some fish food in there

Take the Metra (Union Pacific North Line) to Waukegan Harbor for some good fishing and there is a bait shop right in the harbor. You just have to walk across the street to get to the harbor.
