I was catching crappies in the 7 to 9 inch range. My mom told me she saw a northern around. I didn't really care because I knew I wouldn't catch it, so I continued to fish for crappies. At about 2:00 I caught a 20 inch Northern Pike my first one ever what a fight on a rod made for crappies and not pike, of course I released it. What a day considering I got skunked the last time I fished at Busse.

congrats! What were you using? I was there too from 11:30-12:00 but didn't catch anything.

if you see a northern just sitting there then jiggle a big minnow by its face and it will bite. ive also caught one on a spinnerbait. youll piss it off so much that it will bite to kill not to eat. if it swims away then its not hungry. try again later. the biggest one i caught there was 27.25" inches.

PS i think any rod is for any fish. the lighter the better
