hi, i'm new to the area, and am looking for a chance to get some smallies on a fly. i just have some general questions, and don't need specific information. i was wondering how the lakeshore rates as far as smallie flyfishing opportunities, and also if there are any river fishing opprtunties around town. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I'm not sure if the flyrod is the way to go on Lake Michigan, but if you're willing to take a ride out to the Kankakee or the Kishwaukee, you will find some excellent smallmouth action on two of the nicest rivers in the state. You can get to both rivers within an hour and a half to two hours from downtown. I recommend the Kish in the next couple of weeks.
