The property below was just purchased by IDOT, with your money, for over $1 million. That creek you see is Black Walnut. The Farm is scheduled to be a runway.....

That brings the totals so far to be 333 acres and $4.3 million. But what do I know?....there are people that claim that an airport will never get built. Hmmmmm.Photo Here

All of the properties can be viewed on my website. The button is below this post.

Could the Peotone Airport proposal merely be a rouse perpetrated by our Governor & IDOT to get federal funds to extend I-355 with NO intention of EVER breaking ground on the Pee-a-tune Airport?

Plans for the tollway project have been on hold since 1997, when a federal judge ruled that an environmental study drafted by the two transportation agencies behind the project had failed to thoroughly examine alternatives to the extension.

The Illinois Department of Transportation and the state's tollway authority plan to release a revised environmental study late this summer. It will examine two alternative projects, both of which would focus largely on improving local roads in Will County.

If the project clears the legal snags that stalled it three years ago, it remains unclear how either the toll authority or IDOT would pay for it.

Ryan has said he would like to reduce or abolish the tollway system in Illinois. Even without those cutbacks, the authority lacks most of the nearly $1 billion needed for the project.

This is from the Metropolitan Planning Council:

Poll Results

Should Interstate 355 be extended south, through northern Will County, between Interstates 55 and 80?

78%
No! The road will cause sprawl and devour open space. Spend the $ on transit.

22%
Yes! The area east of Joliet is traffic choked, hard to reach and needs the economic boost.

Thought the state was broke????

It is looking as if the O'Hare expansion is gonna get the go ahead. It is my understanding that if that happens the Peotone Airport Proposal will be dead in the water. Is this the case?

"I would paddle out swiftly onto the open lake if the moon was shining down its path. It never failed to come to me when going down that brilliant shining highway into space. Most completely of all would I be taken when lying on my back looking at the stars. The gentle motion of the canoe softly swaying, the sense of space and infinity given by the stars, gave me the sense of being suspended in the ether. My body had no weight, my soul was detached and I careened freely through a delightfullness of infinite distance.... Sometimes the night cry of the loon would enhance the illusion. For long periods I would lie, having lost track of time and location. A slap of a wavelet would jerk me back into the present and I would paddle back to the glowing coals of the deserted camp fire, trying to fathom the depths of the experience I had been through."....When suddenly, the stillness of night was shattered by a 747 passing overhead, preparing to land nearby.
