Iwas there just after dusk last night, and fish were jumping, and surfacing everywhere!!!! That's got to be a good sign. To bad snow is supposed to hit on thursday, it was starting to look nice for fishing. No, I wish that I could say that I caught something.

I caught a 5.5 lbs largemouth in Wisconsin last year. I had it mounted. It was 19.5 inch long with a girth of 15 inches. I used Bob Hicks formula and it was right on the button. My fish was originally weighed at a meat market store scale, which are very accurate. The inspectors monitor them periodically to avoid consumer fraud. My largemouth measured 19.25 inches long with a girth of 15 inches. If Jason's smallmouth was fat it could be 5.5lbs.

Smallmouth do not get the girth that largemouths get, plus you are looking at a river fish copared to a lake fish.
