Fishing below the Marseilles Dam

Hey I am new to this board and would like to see if anyone else is fishing the Illinois below the dam in Marseilles. I have been out there at my property just outside of town everyday for the last few weeks and have caught a lot of different fish (Small-mouth, Large-mouth, Walleye, Bluegill, 2 different kinds of catfish and of course Drum & Carp, also a stray whitefish or two). I have had a lot of luck there and have had the pleasure of meeting a few people on my property who did not know it was private ( as long as you clean up after you can fish it) and was just seeing if anyone on here still fishes Marseilles.

We always wanted to come back to 1 of our old stomping grounds and one of these days we still may. We used to wade here in the mid to late 80's for years. You had to park right before the bridge on your right hand side and "kinda" walk in. Walked to where that water was coming out of the factory and made like a channel back into the river. Inside there, and at the mouth and the power house dam had some of the most insane white bass action to be found on whatever was your fancy. Remember them days dude???????????

Your talking about the first image right. They have closed 1, 2 & 3 to fishing. My property is #4, 5 & 6. The public launch is # 7 and you can fish there too. By boat you can fish all of it but the water has been low due to the recent heatwave & lack of rain

Wow thats some outstanding work :)2 You hit it right on the head. #2 Rocked. i fished them 3 areas so many times. Let me know if you ever wanna hook up and i can drag my boat down there, launch at Ottawa, and motor up as far as we can. I did this a few times and it was cool.

The wading there years ago was something to really talk about. Pre-internet days. At #2 there was water coming out in like 4 openings in the wall. We used to pitch baits inside the wall and crank it back with the current and get cracked. We also caught some Walleyes with the biggest at around 4 bones, plenty sheep, and also some smallish Crappies.

Cool :)2
I live there and we can launch right at # 7 And it would be a 3 minute boat ride. Ill PM you my number
You need 10 posts to bust off a Pm. Thanks for the invite :)2
Rob,

I too live in Marseilles. I've never fished the Illinois here though. A friend of mine just told me about a bass fishing tournament that Seneca park district is putting on. I don't have any details except for the fact that it is September 15th and is $100 a team. First three places win something.
some real nice cats along the side of that building too past #1 and a few eye's/ saug pieces as well.
I always wondered how the fishing is there. I go to #3 in the photos several times a year to the The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial (the Iraq / Afgan War Memorial) and being a fisherman I look at the water and wonder while remembering my buddies. Anyways, looks like there is some good fishin' there.
gonna fish there this weekend...how it been and is the water level still low...
I have been able to get my boat up to the power house a couple times and fish but one of the rocks on the way claimed my prop a couple weeks back. broke an ear off. Got lucky though that was the only damage I got. They dropped the water on us from the time we launched till the time we worked the boat back to the ramp so the rocks were getting more visible atleast but harder to get by on the way back down.
