Got out Sunday 4/20 around noon. Fished hard all day in channels off of Fox and Nippersink with nothing in the boat. No wake limited travel somewhat. Frustrated because fishing reports at the baitshop were good. Moved to deeper channels still nothing. On the advice of my 7 year old guide; Went WAY shallow around sunset. These areas are normally only a couple feet deep but were 3-4 with the high water. Bingo. VERY small ice jigs with small crappie minnows or plain minnow were the ticket. Near constant action until we had to pack it in for a school night. Large crappies a foot or two down. On the bottom; half a dozen keeper eyes (released), lots of cats after dark. Mostly channels with a 10 pound flathead (jumped like a tarpon). Nice ending saved the day.
