I was planning on going out to Braidwood for the first time tomorrow, and have never been there before. Unfortunately I won't have a boat. Which entrance do I want to go to if I want to fish from shore on the hot side? any info or tips about fishing from shore would be appreciated.

Erik, To fish the hot side, you need to be on the south end of the lake. Go South on 53 thru the town of Braidwood about 2-2 1/2 miles to Kankakee rd. Turn left. There is a bar on the corner and a sign that says city park. You are now on Kankakee rd. Go another 2 miles to 6000N and take that left to the parking lot. I would work the rip-rap with small deep diving crankbaits, making about 15-20 degree casts along the rip-rap. If you can fish the wind blown rocks you will be better served than looking for calm water. If you are just looking for action, fish live bait the little cats will wear you out.
