Got out for about an hour after the rains came through yesterday looking for white bass and smallies. The area I was fishing had some fairly active fish holding and I immediately lost a few really nice sized smallies that simply shook off the hook as they were jumping all over through the fast current break. They were really peeling some line today and hitting hard. Most smallies were between 12-14", the white bass are still the small males and I even caught a few rock bass which I haven't encountered at this area before. I stuck to one bait today, a 1/4 oz panther martin and it seemed to get the job done. I did end up catching a nice sized smallie that had me fooled for a really big one, but it was still chunky. It was just shy of 17".
