......i'm not an expert but have been going down the last three years. we always go down in mid-late march with mixed results. have always managed to find fish, not always of size though. this year we pushed the trip back a month, so we're going second weekend in may. with all the water conditions and never endig winter it looks like that was a good/lucky call. plus this year we have our own bass boat, previously we've had nice rentals but no electronics.

my plan is to throw cranks/rattles and chatter bait around structure/ledges and if the bite there is slow move back into the flooded brush with jigs and plastics. i'm not aying it'll work, i'm just saying thats the plan!

Fishinfreak, The average mid April weather temps, low to mid 70's. Water, low 60's to mid 60's. Currently the weather and water temps are lower then normal. Currently the lake level is about 5' higher then normal and the bass are up on the banks.

I was there in mid april last year for a week. It was 60-80 deg the week before we arrived. The day before we arrived a cold front came through
and stayed most of the week we were there. We had 40-60 deg temps.
Take both warm and cold clothing and hope for the best. The cold temps drove the fish back to deep water and you had to work for them.
Here is a link for the weather.

Good Luck please post how you do.
