I am going to try the Big Lake this year. Could someone help- me out on the laws about fishing the border waters. Like how far into Indiana are you allowed to go if at all? Your help would be appreciated for this old rookie Thanks.

jb is is correct about making sure you have all the right equipment. i received a ticket last year because i had a 6" thick seat cushion with shoulder straps and not a WEARABLE floation device! he said if i bought one and brought it to court he would dismise the ticket. but whose going to take a day off work for that headache? whatever happened to night court??? although i should have gone to court just to show the judge what a waste of the tax payers dollars this guy was!!! you'll recognize his car by my signature inscripted on the hood of his car!

There is a reciprocal agreement with Indiana. The area is inside the breakwall, fom the east end of the wall to the Coast Guard station, along an undrawn line. North of the wall is Indiana. It also contains the Calumet river to I believe 95th Street, but not the old U.S.Steel slip. Either license is valid in this area. Believe it or not, the end of the pier in Calumet Park is in Indiana waters. I have heard that you can have either license at the Stateline Power plant, but I'm not sure about that. I buy both licenses every year just to be safe. The money goes to a good cause.
