Sorry for the double post had technical difficulties had to resize pics and save so hope this works

Well me and Big Fish Ross made it up to the bay on Sunday after some shoping and unpacking we watched a little football and headed out for the nite. First time out we landed two eyes.

Altough the first nite we didnt slay them we were happy we had a couple of fish were already ahead of last year pace. Regroup and head out on Monday morning we went out early monday morning trolled arround hunters point and Saunders point with nothing to show for. Headed back out Monday night and we only had one eye that got off of Big fish Ross is line. Then Huricane Sandy took over Tuesday and Wendsday was a wash 30 mph winds kick up.

Thursday morning we decided to hit up center reef and troll some crawler harnesses and drag some Red tail chubs along the break line. Thats when this 13 inch perch decided he was hungry and hit on a chub.

Thursday night game plan was to cast the weeds off of center reef and then troll cranks later on.

We picked up a few eyes and a Norton.

So since we stayed out late on thursday nite we did not get a early jump friday morning but this is what we woke up to.

Agian we trolled arround but could not get anything to bite wind picked up so we decided to call it a morning and get ready for the night bite.

Friday nite was a good nite for me i picked up 4 nice eyes off of first reef Big fish ross added 1 to the box i must admitt he is a good net man i gave him lots of chances that night.

Most of my fish were caught on Husky Jerks only one was caught on a reef runner Big Fish Ross hot lure was a flicker shad in purple till the Norton messed it up. ALLin all a good trip was had and a good time with Big Fish Ross were booked agian for next year. When we got there water temps were mid 40s when we left they were down to low 40s . Center reef was hot if you could get out there but we did pretty good trolling first reef as it wasnt as windy there.
Here are pics of my biggest for the trip

Ross big one

Good going guys! Sandy was even felt up there ha? Amazing! Sounds like you made the most out of the tough conditions you experienced. North wind and the snow comes in easily from Lake Superior I would think..

Based on your report I gather the night bite seemed to be where most of the action was right?. I gather it was a bit chilly yes? What times did you go through early monning? Is it hazardous out there with boulders, flats, sand bars etc?

Well, I've always wanted to go to Erie and fish De Noc but have yet to.. Taking a guide out or someone that has studied and experienced the area over and over maybe the way to go.. I'd like to get up there, hopefully I'll get a chance soon. Is spring time a good bite as good as the fall or is the fall the best time to be there?

Nonetheless thanks for the post & nice photos Sonny :)2

Pete B i dont know about spring but know they catch them year round mostly on crawler harnesses. For some reason late fall turns into crank bait bite. An yes it was nite bite for us we would get out arround 5pm and get back in arround 1 am. First year up we did good in the morning but last couple of years nothing during the day dont know why maybe not fishing right areas will work on this next year. But most of the locals fish smallies during the day an pick up some eyes that way. They have good maps you can pick up at local bait shops even with water levels low we had only one issue we hit some rocks took a chunk out of the prop dont know what happened we went through the same spot all week with out hitting anything so just one of those things. I allways wanted to fish the Bay and now im hooked now have to make time to hit the ice fishing would like to try my hand at that.

Nice :)2

Did you guys eat out at all. Delonas was outstanding but due to the economy they closed down. What a bummer. Heard that some of the cooks went to the joint on top of the hill by the shell gas station and the food is good over there. When i went there in the early 90's that area what happening and when the economy went bad, the Esky area to a major hit. I'm sure you seen if you drove around how sad it is up there.

Many guys go up there and do squat so my hat goes out to you guys as you were able to scratch some out. When i seen you fished with Bigfishross i did not feel like you guys would draw a skunk. Is that dude rich. Seems like he fishes everywhere and every week :)

Thanks for sharing the pics :)2 that place is very special to me and my brother.

Theres a place up the road in Gladstone called Jacks was good food but we only went out to eat once Lindbergs cabins has a stove & oven they also give you access to a weber grill. So I should say i cooked most of the time. Yes i liked Delonas that was good to but yep there closed. We did go into town and fished the Escanaba harbor when the wind was whipping on wendsday but nothing doing there and yes the towns buisnesses are closed but thats like a lot of these small towns your right sad. No Big Fish Ross is not rich hes Lucky he has a wife that let him retire extreemly early so he can play. Hes on a cruise right now as i type and then off to go on a 17 day tuna excursion what a life. Well we have the nite bite down but we have to try an find fish during the day next year i think i am going and try to talk him going south towards escanaba as we hardly fished that area seems like the smallie bite during the day is good with the chubs and they pick a walleye or twoo up that way. Were booked for the same week OCT 26th through Nov 2 450$ for the week Wash get your brother together and book a cabin
