I was just wondering where is this McHenry Dam heard good things about it.

Sorry I just couldn't resist that...
If you take RT 12 north Then get off @ RT 176 & go west..Take 176 into Island lake to a road (i'm pretty sure it's called river rd)& make a right..There's a McDonald's on your right @ the corner of the turn..You'll drive down that road for about 5 minutes...Once you pass Moraine hills state park(which will be on your right)..It's not far after that on your left...look carefully because you can miss the turn to the dam...if you enter the town of McHenry you've gone too far...
