Fished Montrose harbor from 6:30AM-8:30AM. It was cold cloudy and windy early on with waves making the horshoe a mess. Decided to fish in the harbor on the south-east side. I was using minnows under slip-bobbers about 10' out from shore and 5'-6' down. Caught 1 brown <1lb. Fished the north end of Belmont harbor with the same setup from 9:00AM-10:30AM, no luck. Went back to same spot at Montrose (though it was now sunny!), same setup, caught a nice 3-4lb. brown and 1 small coho. All on hook and minnow. Not one bite on the venerable night crawler. All fish released. Saw a lot of people fishing for Perch, and none caught that I saw except a few REAL tiny ones.

I was fishing by the docks, from the sidewalk not on the docks. I was just at the south end of the construction near the bait shop. They're replacing the hoists or something. There were a couple of people fishing the outside, but not doing much better. If you're looking for perch I think the horshoe, just before it turns is the best spot, second would be off the docks in the harbor (on a good weather day). If it's salmon/trout, I think inside the harbor in the open water areas that separate the different docks is the best followed by the horseshoe, at least for the spring run. I think in the fall, the absolute best spot at Montrose is the horseshoe, particularly casting toward the inside of the horseshoe or at the very end of it. I'm going back tomorrow AM and I'll post the results.
