I'm picking up my boat this week from it's wintering hole in Naperville. Anyone know where the closest "calm water" boat ramp is so I can get a decent "Spring shakedown-run" in?

I know that Blackwell is closed because of the trout, plus I'd need a new DPC FP boat permit. The only place I can think of is Shab. I don't need to run the gas engine, but it would be nice. It's just an hour there, and an hour back seems silly.

I'm not considering the Fox/Illinois river systems at all. Launching/landing solo is rough enough, I don't need to add high river current into the mix.

The boat is a trailered 14" Alumacraft, bow mount electric, 9.9 Johnson.

The launch in Aurora on Illinois Ave shouldn't be bad, it's in a somewhat sheltered bay. If you just want to get it wet and run the troller, how about Oakhurst aka Patterson Lake.

I just recently became familiar with Patterson, and I think that will work perfectly.

Thanks guys!
