I tried the river 3 times in the past week, near Willow Springs Road, Rt 83 and down and up from those bridges. If they were biting, the hits are light. Maybe I ought to be using minnows. There are some current breaks, but the river is rolling fast and strong. Some ditches and creek mouths are very difficult to get to because they are so flooded. We need warm weather to get the fish to bite more. But, why was January better than February and March? Come on spring. Note I see a lot of bugs out. Don't know if mosquetoes are some of them, and if the are, they might carry west Nile virus. Lots of stagnent pools of water all over the shores. Many moths and gnats also are hatching out of the driftwood and grassy areas. Think it will be good for birds to eat, but might be a buggy year, once weather warms up.I tried Yum tails, Riverside grubs, 4" tubes, small spinners, and a Hot-N-Tot orange crankbait. Not any hits I think.
