I tried the DPR at Columbia Woods (Willow Springs Rd) thursday with no bites. The river has gone up, and was rising even in the few hours while I was there. Even current breaks we hard to find. The canoe laiunch is under a good 3 or 4 feet of water. I still see minnows flying out of the water, but these are in places too far to cast to. It would seem panfish like bluegill and crappies should hit as there are many bugs hatching that a "beige to light brown" in color all over the surface of the river. In fact, a few bug swarms had me covering my mouth and eyes. Maybe we need to match these bug colors iwith our lures? The ground under the bridge was covered with water too. And, the river still seems to be rising. The lakes of Long John Slough and Crawdad slough (not fishing lakes however) are totally 100% open water. I had to get to work, so I didn't drive past Maple, Joe's Pond, nor Saganashskee Slough. I'd imagine they got to be melted by now.
