Got "sick" Tuesday night, so I decided to take the day off of work Wednesday and try to get some medicine at Rock Creek.

Boy did the meds work! Had a very, very, very good day of fishing (might be the best day at the K3 my entire 5 years I've been fishing there) It was sunny, the river was up, and no clouds in the sky, so we ditched the big river and just went to the creek. I started with a woolybugger pattern, that landed me a large Rock Bass (almost mistook it for a Smallie for the amount of fight he put up) but alas, it was just a fat rock bass.

Switched to a helgramite pattern (you'll see it in the 3rd pic) and this is when I started slaying these smallies. All were caught and released.

Ps.. there was a TON, and I mean a TON of Gar in the creek.

First Smallie of the Day (which got me riled up)

Second Smallie of the Day

And finally Big Bertha..

I would of caught more, but I didn't set the hook on about 3-4 smallies. Either way I'm happy. :)31

I'm here with my 2 sons and my friend. We are at the mouth of the river and creek. So far we've caight 4 smallies, biggest being 1.5lbs, a 1.5lb LM and some rockbass. How far down the creek do we need to go to see the gar? I'm kids are ready to just and try to fish for them

right now they could be anywhere, i think the last posts we found them during their spawning period..but if they are around, they should be around the mouth of the creek, you might have to go a few yards in either direction though..(they like to sun themselves..hint, hint)

Sorry finally got a chance to check back on my thread. Glad you found the place Mac. If you didn't see the Gar, most likely they're done spawning and have moved on.

Honestly, my 7-8 years of being on this river, I have never seen so much gar in my life that one day. I rarely even see them, and only hear them making a splash.

Sucks you missed them, but glad you got some smallies to bite.
