Hi all,

Just moved from Canada where I used to be able to hike into some fairly solitary areas with my dog and do some fishing.

I'm wondering if there are any areas where this is possible in Dupage County, I don't want anyone's secret spots I just enjoy the opportunity to get out with my dog, get some exercise without interrupting anyone.

fishing opportunities for bass are ideal, but the main thing is a quiet area where I can either make my way up stream or around the edge of a lake and do some fishing. I have no issue getting waist deep and doing some trekking. I'm comfortable with a 2-3 mile turn arounds.

Any help is appreciated.

I've been known to wade up Poplar Creek in Elgin.

It's surprising how quickly it starts to feel remote. I'd recommend just finding some water using Google Earth and try hoofing it around there. I've met other fishermen who do the same.

Perfect, Thanks habeebtc.

Yea I've done a fair bit of exploring on google maps and worked Dupage river near west dupage forest preserve, but that stretch of the river was fairly silty and didn't seem ideal for Bass; from what I explored.

Part of my issue is my general lack of familiarity with some of the tribs and other bodies of water, there seems to be an abundance of fishable water in the area but finding water I can explore with my dog seems a bit more difficult.

I should note, I'm in the Naperville area and ideally the water system is within a 15-20 minute drive so I can do some exploring on weekdays.

I'll have to explore poplar creek when i have some spare time on the weekends.
