I was fishing in my local forest preserve lake (Herrick Lake in Wheaton) yesterday when I noticed something strange...A bullhead was breaking the surface of the water with it's mouth about 30 yards off shore. As I fished for over an hour, it came closer and closer to the shore to within a few feet. The entire time it was spinning around with it's mouth pointing towards the sky and tail towards the bottom of the lake. It kept breaking the surface of the water. It looked like it had some kind of growth on the left side of its face. It was quite disturbing. Is this some kind of parasite or disease? I think I have heard of some whirling fish disease, but I didn't think it was anywhere around here. Is there someone I should contact?
Thanks for any info...
