I got out for the first time yesterday. All I got was one decent size bullhead, no bass. Any suggestions on catching them this spring? I was dragging a nightcrawler on the bottom real slow, and then letting it sit for a minute or so. Nothing took it though. Any help would be appreciated.

I think what A101 is trying to say is....BUZZBAIT!
Seriously though, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits will find a big bass on the end of your line soon enough if you give them a chance.
See ya on the water........

You might want to try a double jointed minnow, made by Rapala or Rebel. Im sure there is other manufacturer's of these lures. They work well in the springtime. The color is up to you, depending on what type of water clarity you have. A medium size one should do you fine because not only the Bass like these, the crappies, walleyes(if the body of water holds these fish)and whatever else has a taste for a minnow. I hope this can help. Good Luck CCC

I've had pretty good results fishing the
forest preserves this time of year with
sluggo type baits. Use fairly long pauses between twitches. Hope this helps. GLGF!
