with the ice starting to clear i am ready to take the boat out. i was wondering if anyone knows any good spots, either lakes or river, to go after first ice out? i don't really fish the chain during open water because of all the pressure but i figured this is a good time before all the pleasure boaters get out. any info would be great. thanks guys and good luck out there.

Mike, our work schedules are alike with working on the weekends. I usually have Monday and Tuesday off, if you ever need a partner let me know, I'd be glad to split the cost with you. I hear LaSalle has been good lately. Mark

Depends on what you are fishin for. I have most luck finding the best green weeds available. I will fish the areas where the channels lead into the lakes as well. I will also try the backwaters and those with wood piers and fallen trees are always the best. Also try the bridges and sand flats. Stay downsized on your baits as well. This should get you started.
