Just had a few questions about the St. Charles dam and the Piano Factory, whats the fishing like? I have yet to be able to get away from school, but with Spring Break coming up I have hopes for fishing everyday. Just wondering if anyone has fished it, and how the water looks? Thanks Hopefully I will get away from the place, to peace and quiet (not so much, but sure does sound good) of the old Fox. Thanks Tight Lines Y'all!

I have not fished St. Charles in cold water. I will hit it from time to time when the water temps are wadeable without waders. There are some very quick drop offs in that stretch that make it an unappealing place for me to wade in winter.

As far as fish go: I have done very good there for smallies. Right now, with the water high, fish close to shore. I'd try Ed's technique mentioned in his post with the nice Eye. You might just catch some walleye.

Good luck,
Razzo

Actually the piano factory no longer exists.
It has been leveled and a model condo now stands.
In that stretch right now I would look for the long shoreline eddys,
The water is up and with the mostly shallower water there, the fish will be pushed toward the shoreline.

The Piano Factory was torn down, thats a shame, now more people will be in that area with a condo nearby. Oh well, I hope to get out there either tomorrow or Sat. sometime, you think the eddies closest to shore? What bait, jig minnow combination. I also am unsure about the time, if you feel this will be for walleye I am assuming later on right? Thanks Tight Lines!
