If memory serves (I moved to the far southside last year) I believe the boat has to be a car-topper or fit in the bed of a truck, i.e. no trailered boats. As far as species go, it has pretty much evrthing in there, musky, walleye, largemouth and smallies, gills, maybe perch. They have a pretty decent bait shop/rental-concession hut their, and they rent boats as well. The water is fairly clean and the fishing can be very tough on bright, warm days.
the gentleman is right about the boats and you can only use a trolling motor.if you want a lake map you can download one from the lake county forest preserve site.there are also crappie in the lake and they are still stocking muskie fingerlings according to a report i read. i have heard it's more of an afternoon bite at that lake.
OK thanks for the info. But where would you recommend fishing for panfish (Perch, Crappie,Bluegill, ETC.) Butler lake or Sterling lake. I will be fishing from shore.
