Hit Beck Lake for the first time since catching skunks on two ice outings. After freezing my butt off Saturday morning trying in futility to catch some salmon/trout, I was eager to feel a tug on the line. My target species was crappies but I ended up catching 20 + of these buggers:

Only 4 of these were caught on minnows:

They are in pre-spawn mode.


This guy came from about 3 feet of water:

Gills and and perch hit on a 1" black twister, tipped with a single spike, 4 feet under a float. It was a lot of fun breaking out the UL.

Beck, Tampier.....You conquer all the lakes that many consider a waste of time. What is next, a 30'' pike out of Big Bend? :lol: Seriously though, way to go 2 I tried Beck a few times when I lived in Chicago with zero results.
