The 'ol Rock Creek

Hey All,
I was just wondering when and where the trout get stocked in the creek. It would be nice to avoid the madness that I can assume takes place that time of year. It is kind of unfortunate, but if I remember correctly, in the spring it is the same time the smallies run up there. Thanks. Oh yeah, is it C&R only for smallmouth in the creek, or is that sign by the parking area just an informational sign. I've read it every time I walk by the rocks, but I just cant remember. Anyway, if it is not, is it even possible to make it c&r only? I wonder what the DNR thinks about that.
End ramble now.

YES---I COMPLETELY AGREE 100%--ROCK CREEK IS
ONE OF THE BIGEST BREEDING GROUNDS FOR RIVER SMALLMOUTHS--I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS PEOPLE OUT AT THE CREEK THAT KEEP EVERYTHING THEY CATCH-I WITNESSED A MAN CATCH THREE LITTLE SMALLIES THAT WERE SITTING ON A NEST LAST SPRING-THEN KEPT THE FIVE, TWO INCH ROCKBASS HE'D CAUGHT AFTER THAT. I MEAN, COME ON, I LIKE TO EAT FISH, BUT IS IT REALLY WORTH DESTROYING FISH POPULATIONS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ONE'S OWN STOMACH??--STOP THE INSANITY--
Last yeay, late June or early july
I fished Rock Creek. I could not believe:
1) All the smallmouth. Caught a nice 2+ lb
2) The large Rainbow I also caught. 1 1/2 lb
at least.
Very scenic to boot.
(CPR rules followed)

:)26 I get very pissed off when I see people not only keepimg fish , but breaking the law. I warn and threaten every illegal fisherman I see. I used to mind my own business, but someone needs to speak. Even though I almost got the livin S*** beat out of me I still confront people. I also try to educate them and let them know whatrs up(ignorance is bliss). I wish other honest fishermen would do the same. I don't mind them fishing. I just do not want them to deplete our resources. As for Rock Creek, I will gladly discuss this privately. It is too vulnerable and important to discuss openly. I will email anyone or even hold a phone conver. because I LOVE THAT CREEK. Please lewt me know what you think.
I am more of a Fox River Rat; however, business takes me down past the park a dozen or so times a year. It's hard to not pack the fishing pole on those trips. Rock Creek is just to inviting.

It is beautiful - no doubt. I'll be there soon and will bring the digital camera and post a nice picture. I too get worked up over poachers. I am gonna program the poaching hot line into my cell phone and make it a habbit of reporting them.

I prefer the term Selective Harvest over C&R for many good reasons. In practice, I release 100% of the smallies I catch and 99.993% of the walleyes.

Take Care,

at least 75% of the illegal fish i see kept are caught by migrant farm workers who speak almost no english and are clueless to the limits. i told one onetime his fish were too small in terrible but understandable spanish. him and his buddy quickly jetted.
