CPR,
Just so that I'm clear what is wrong with the Root River. Was it the run of over 10,000 kings that were passed thru the weir in 2001? Is it fishing with some decent people and having the opportunity to catch some really big inland fish. I spent incredible fall day fishing with I guy from St. Louis during the week, we had a great hole all to ourselves and slammed fish all day. I was able to teach him some things about drift fishing and he gave me the chance to fish with a truly interesting man. By the end of the day I found out that this gentlemen lived in the same town as my sister and that they may have know each other. Fishing is what you want to make of it. I have fished with a lot of really good people on the Root. Yes I run across some real a$$holes but those are the same people that won't let you change lanes on the highway or cut in front of you at the store. Fishing is a place for men and women to come together and get pleasure from the sport and teach each other something new. There is nothing better than fishing with a bunch of guys you don’t know shooting the breeze and telling stories (lies). Two years ago my wife thought she would see why I was always going fishing, now from May thru September (fair weather fisher person) I've got a new partner. She thinks that fishermen are some of the friendly people. And I dig having her with me.
