Are there any lakes in the Chicagoland area that allow wading and or float tubes/belly boats as fishing platforms? I would like to do some fishing closer to home, but the regulations seem so restrictive I wonder if it's worth trying. Tnanks for any info you may be able to give.

Milikin Lake in the DesPlaines Fish & Wildlife area is a good lake to wade. The South(I think) end of the lake is shallow and provides excellent bluegill and largemouth bass action.
Poppers work best for me in the evenings. Streamers, nymphs and terrestrials during the day. Milikin Lake is South on 55 (from Chicago). Exit at the Wilminton exit. Turn left at the sign. You will see the signs about 1/2 mile down on the right.
