went fishing at the des plaines river in the schiller park area,didnt catch anything,was using corn on a hook with a 1 pound pryamid sinker,current was pretty fast and kept taking my bait farther and farther until it would get tangled,anyone have any advice on how to catch a fish there?,

First off....get out of that current...the fish ain't there at this time of year. Second....scale down on the size weight your using. We all wish to relieve the river of the incredible carp population but ya gotta get out of the flow. Work any areas that provide some sort of still water. If the proximity to the main flow does not allow this...move down river, then setup with less weight. If you using anything over 12 lb test for carp, respool and try different baits. Crawlers, cut bait or maybe chicken livers will work for some cats this early in the season. Carp may bite on the same...try Wheaties later in the season. Ya need to find the somewhat stagnant pools adjacent to the current otherwise you may be wasting your time.
